Neurology & Neurosurgery

Expert Neurological Care
for Dogs and Cats.

The nervous system controls everything your pet does — how they move, how they feel, how they function. When something goes wrong, the signs can be frightening and the diagnosis complex. At Summit, our board-certified veterinary neurologist brings deep clinical experience in both medical neurology and neurosurgery, giving your pet access to comprehensive, specialist-level care from a single trusted team.

When to Refer

Recognizing a Neurological Condition.

Neurological conditions can present in many ways. If your pet is showing any of the following signs, a referral to a neurologist may be appropriate:

Sudden or progressive weakness in one or more limbs
Difficulty walking, standing, or coordinating movement
Seizures or episodes of abnormal behavior
Changes in mental awareness or responsiveness
Head tilt, abnormal eye movements, or loss of balance
Pain along the neck or back
Loss of bladder or bowel control
Suspected brain or spinal cord injury

“Early evaluation and treatment give the best chance of a positive outcome.”

What to Expect

A Thorough Evaluation
from the Start.

At your pet’s initial consultation, Dr. Tzipory will perform a complete physical and neurological examination along with a range of non-invasive assessments to determine which part of the nervous system is affected, why, and to what degree. He will walk you through his findings clearly, discuss your pet’s prognosis honestly, and outline all available treatment options — medical and surgical.

You will leave the consultation with a thorough understanding of what is happening and what your options are. Throughout the process, your primary veterinarian remains an active part of your pet’s care. We provide detailed updates at every significant milestone and ensure your family vet has everything they need to continue providing primary care.

Advanced Imaging

MRI — The Gold Standard
for Neurological Diagnosis.

MRI is the most effective imaging modality available for evaluating the brain, spinal cord, nerve roots, and surrounding structures. Unlike X-ray or CT, MRI uses electromagnetic fields to produce detailed cross-sectional images that reveal soft tissue abnormalities with exceptional clarity — making it indispensable for diagnosing conditions such as IVDD, brain tumors, inflammatory disease, and vascular events.
